Skyrim and the Nexus Mod Manager
Posted on December 19th, 2013
For those of you who are just getting into modding Skyrim, you probably know how easily it is to get mods through the Steam Workshop. Unfortunately, some of the best mods available are only available via nexusmods.com. Here are the basic steps needed to start using nexus mods.
Install the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM)
- Navigate here, and click the green download button to begin installing the Nexus Mod Manager.
- Once installed, open the NMM and allow it to scan for your Skyrim install.
Download and Install
You are now able to start getting mods. Start browsing, and once you find one you like, click the green button that says "Download (NMM)". This will actually launch the NMM and begin downloading the necessary files for the mod.
Once the download is complete, you will see a red 'x' next to the name of your mod. This means that the mod is downloaded, but you have yet to activate it.
Simply activate it by clicking the appropriate button on the left side of the screen, and your mod should be installed! There will be times when your mod will ask to overwrite files. Usually the creator of the mod will let you know if it is going to overwrite any textures, but typically you want to allow it.
