Installing Evernote on Ubuntu 14.04
Posted on July 24th, 2014
Although there isn't an official Evernote client available for Linux, by installing Wine (we will use v1.7), you can use the exact Evernote client that you would otherwise use on Windows.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine1.7 winetricks
After Wine finishes installing, you will need to download the Evernote setup executable. The problem is, if you try browsing to evernote.com/download from a Linux machine, you may see this message:
To get around this, you will need to find an alternate download location, such as this one. (NOTE - A user pointed out in the comments below that you can in fact get the install from Evernote via this link)
After you have downloaded the setup file, and Wine is installed, all you have to do is install Evernote via Wine.
wine [path to evernote setup exe]
Once the Evernote setup opens, just follow the steps to install. If everything works successfully, you should see a similar screen to the one below.
This will install Evernote onto your Ubuntu machine, and Evernote should now appear as an application within your Unity Dash.
