reNIX - A beautiful theme for Unity/GNOME Shell

Posted on December 7th, 2013

I have been messing around with different themes for Ubuntu lately, and have finally come across one that looks amazing. reNIX is a theme for both Unity and GNOME Shell that keeps things simple, while offering a unique and satisfying design. The theme works great in Ubuntu 12.04 and other GTK 3.4 compatible systems. Below is an example of my desktop using the reNIX theme.

Installing reNIX

To Install reNIX, first enter your terminal (ctrl + alt + t).

Then type the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/themes

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install renix-gtk-theme

After you have the theme installed, you will need an advanced settings editor to enable it. I used Advanced Settings, a GNOME Tweak Tool.

Open your GNOME Tweak Tool and set GTK and Windows Theme to both be reNIX. You will also notice you have some more icons to choose from, so mess around with them and see which set is your favorite.

If you have any questions or difficulties installing, feel free to message me.
